About 12 min

What you’ll need

  • Two objects chosen from different rooms

How to do it

  1. Name the two objects and describe them together.
  2. Take turns adding one sentence that moves the story from the first object to the second.
  3. Retell the story and change one event.

The challenge

What problem could connect these two objects?

Feedback

Many answers can work; explain the connection so a listener can follow it.

How would the ending change if one character made a different choice?

Feedback

Changing one event helps practise cause and effect.

What this practices

This activity practices vocabulary, narrative sequence, imagination and listening.

For the adult

For younger children, accept gestures or short phrases and turn them into a sentence together.
